Volunteer with EWB
Volunteering for EWBNZ is a rewarding experience, where no matter what background or skills you have you can contribute towards valuable community work in New Zealand and the South Pacific. If you're interested in volunteering your skills in a meaningful organisation then we have a role for you in….engineering, environment, planning, education, development, marketing, communications, fundraising, information technology, human resource management, general administration and management and much more!
We are always looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to be a part of our volunteer teams. You can volunteer as an intern at the head office, or within regional chapters in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. Check out the volunteer opportunities available in your region:
Volunteering as an intern at the EWB head office
Interning is a great way to get to know the EWB organisation and team, and apply your skills to EWB’s programmes.
Volunteering with a chapter
Chapters are the lifeblood of EWB, and where the action happens. Volunteering with a chapter enables you to assist with anything from marketing, events and communication, to community projects and creating ideas. See the links below for opportunities to volunteer for your local chapter

Why do people volunteer for EWB?
Apart from wanting to work with others to work in meaningful programmes in engineering development and engineering education, people are inspired and motivated to volunteer for EWB for a number of reasons:
- Students – relevant networking and work experience
- Between jobs – a few months to spare before launching into a new job
- Retirement – making good use of years of expertise
- Special interests/skills – which can make a valuable contribution to EWB’s work
- Spare time – a few hours a week to get involved in something different and rewarding
Whatever your reason is, we would love to hear from you!
