Our placement volunteer, Kyle in Vanuatu writes:
It has been a busy few weeks here in Vanuatu. I took a short trip back to the capital Port Vila to procure more materials and organize future shipments. I can confirm that this process is slow and extremely challenging!! However I ended up winning and came back to Ambrym with a ship full of materials.
Construction is back underway with one structure close to completion.
The next job is to connect up the 10,000L storage tank and trench in the pipe distribution network. Another collection structure is also currently under constriction. We will be milling more timber with the chainsaw this week.
The locals are stoked with the access to modern building materials. I also have a new appreciation for running water and the work that goes into making it happen!
