windmill survivalbility
Hi EWB,
jst have some queries on the windmill topic design:
1.Can we modify the windturbine?
2.Are we required to design the post?
3.what's the location of the turbine?
4.can finished products be used for the electronics?
5. Can more than one challange be addressed?

Hi Cheesburger Team,
1) Yes the turbine given is one of the options Vanrepa were considering. You can use alternatives if you think they would be better.
2) The area you are to design is the method of making the windmill survive the extreme wind conditions.
3) Location of the turbine - We have given a context in the project brief, this is the Tafea Province in the southern areas of Vanuatu. The turbines will be located in windy areas near charging stations and micro industry.
4) Yes you can use available items on the market today, we are not looking at the design of new parts of the trubine or electronics but how this windmill survivability can be acheived.
5) We have not specified in the project brief that only you are limited to one challenge. As such many challenges can be addressed but remember the limit on the report.

We have extended the registration date till the 30th June due to difficulties with registration and some institutions have not recieved word of the challenge. Current particpants have been emailed and the final challenge brief and template have been put on the ewb website.

choosing topic of choice during registration
My friends and I can't seem to decide on which topic we'd like to design on. However, the registration date is closing in, and we were just wondering whether we could choose a topic now, and maybe change it later on during the course of the challenge?

Did you find a team for the desal plant? Due to the problems with the forum i can enroll you in the challenge if you have a team, or i can contact other teams doing the desalination plant on your behalf and see if they would be keen for another member.
