The annual Dialogues on Development study tour is one of EWBNZ’s Leadership and Training programs. Participants learn first-hand about sustainable development and the impact of humanitarian work in Samoa.
This year’s tour saw seven professional engineers venture to Samoa to get a deeper understanding of the impact of engineering in development work. The team visited nearly a dozen local organisations over seven days.
Hosts included: The NZ High Commission, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and The Scientific Research Organisation Samoa (SROS). The visits prompted discussion topics like appropriate technologies, effective distribution of aid, and disaster relief readiness to name just a few.
The 2016 tour was very successful and the program continues to provide a great personal and professional development experience for humanitarian engineers.
