Working on a capacity building placement with the wonderful Department of Public Health, EWB seeks an experienced professional to support the Department of Public Health to finalise and implement Vanuatu National Sanitation Standards. Building on work already completed by previous EWB field professionals, this role involves coordinating and liaising with other professionals within the sector to finalise appropriate sanitation standards. Implementation of the standards will include preparing policy documents, design criteria, standard best practice designs, and training for provincial and local community health workers. This part of the role is expected to take on average 3 days per week for 12 months.
Working independently, the role also requires the staff member to lead, plan, manage and deliver EWB’s program in Vanuatu, ensure EWB’s team in Vanuatu are well supported, and develop an expansion strategy for EWB’s presence across Vanuatu and other Pacific Island countries. This is a broad role covering all aspects of engineering and the technical sector, including stakeholders in education, private sector, government and NGOs. This part of the role is expected to take on average 2 days per week for the first 12 months, increasing to full time in the second year.
