Recently, I had the pleasure of being a part of the Engineers without Borders Australia, Australasian design competition through my engineering design class at the Auckland University of Technology. Our team were finalists and a special category winner for our community consideration throughout the design process (Community Partner Award) at the finalists showcase in Cairns, December 2023. It was a fantastic experience and one that opened my eyes to the possibilities of humanitarian design and engineering. This experience has developed in myself a keen interest for using my developing skills and knowledge in engineering for the development of humanitarian outcomes.
I have recently become a member with the New Zealand chapter and I would be interested in learning how to become more involved. I also noticed the ‘Pathways to Development’ Course that is offered and would love the chance to develop myself further through this.
Apologies for the long message, I look forward to hearing more and becoming involved with the excellent work that your organization does.
Kind regards, Nga mihi,
